Johan Michiels

Johan Michiels brings more than four decades of OpenVMS expertise. He earned master's degrees in mathematics and computer science from Ghent University before beginning his career at Alcatel Bell in 1983.

He joined Digital Equipment's support unit in 1986. Over time, he moved into software development and eventually became the technical manager of the demonstration and benchmark center.

Johan has been an OpenVMS consultant since 1993, specializing in platform migrations, disaster-tolerant clusters, centralized management, and automation. He provides consulting services to leading OpenVMS clients worldwide.

In this role, Johan led the development of innovative system management tools, resulting in the creation of the product 'CockpitMgr for OpenVMS'.

Building on this experience, he joined the OpenVMS Engineering team in 2003, where he played a key role in developing OpenView Smart Plug-ins for OpenVMS.

Johan actively participates in the OpenVMS Ambassadors community.

After spending 32 years working at Digital, Compaq, and Hewlett Packard, Johan went on to establish EuroVMS. The company presently offers an extensive suite of OpenVMS services across Europe.
